Summer

(Jannis)

It’s warm outside
The sun it shines
I’m locked away indoors
Down on the street
People meet
But I don’t belong anymore

The seasons aren’t built to last
This summer came and went too soon
Behind these walls of stone and glass
The world is standing still in perfect bloom

Why am I so averse to light?
If horror stories always play in winter nights

It’s summer
But the sun seemed brighter at the start
It’s summer
Now everything is falling apart

It’s warm outside
It’s nearly like
We caught a fever
But for a summer breath
The smell of death
Is inconceivable

And I don’t feel like sunshine
But the sunshine doesn’t give a damn
I’m pulling closed the shutters now
Please wake me up when September ends
And maybe when I wake up I can bear going out again

It’s summer
But the sun seemed brighter at the start
It’s summer
Now everything is falling apart

Aaaah
It’s warm outside but doesn’t feel like
Summer
And the sky becomes too narrow
For summer heat and summer sorrow
A hostile past and no tomorrow

It’s summer
But the sun seemed brighter at the start
It’s summer
Now everything is falling apart

Aaaah
It’s warm outside but doesn’t feel like
Summer
I can wait for summer rain
Or that the leaves begin to change
I’ll still miss you every day
